Welcome back!

We all have witnessed the increase in the incident of identity theft and online fraud. For this reason the government was so concerned that they have made the right for every citizen to obtain a free credit report once a year, under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Although many people know the problem of identity theft but they still do not take their credit report because they are not aware of the legal right they possess. As Fraud is becoming a big problem and once the criminal gets the hold of your identity they can take credit in your name which will never be repaid. Even if you are not at fault you will be having a poor credit score.

According to the law you can get a free credit report once a year and you can check that everything that is mentioned in your credit report is correct. You can get the credit report from any of the credit bureaus like Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. Once you receive your credit report you should thoroughly go through it to make sure that there are no errors.

This is also a great way to see and manage your arrangements about the credit that you hold. It will be better that you make a note about the date when you got the credit report so that you can take it at the same time next year and see that you are coping up with your commitments.
